Athens, GA – Bicycle Accident at E Campus Rd & Cedar St Intersection

Athens, GA (September 9, 2021) – At 2:46 p.m. on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 8, a bicycle accident with injuries occurred at an intersection in Athens.

According to police, the accident happened at the intersection of East Campus Road and Cedar Street. A bicyclist was traveling in the area when their vehicle was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle also traveling through the intersection. The bicycle was extensively damaged due to the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The bicyclist, who has not yet been identified, was the only person injured in the accident. Their condition is not known but they are expected to be okay.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time as police cleared the scene.
