Athens, GA – Two Injured in Car Crash at Oconee St & Hickory St
Athens, GA (November 22, 2021) – At 6:07 p.m. on the evening of Saturday, November 20, a car crash with injuries occurred at an intersection in Athens.
According to the University of Georgia Police Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Oconee Street and Hickory Street. Two vehicles were traveling in the area when they entered the intersection at the same time, forcefully colliding with each other. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. A driver and a passenger, who have not yet been identified, were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Their conditions are not yet known.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
