Hampton County, SC – 8-year-old Injured After Drunk Driver Strikes Hampton Co. Sheriff’s Vehicle
Hampton County, SC (March 26, 2023) A vehicle collision involving a Hampton County Sheriff’s Office vehicle and a car has resulted in an 8-year-old child being hospitalized. Deputy Mike Davis was sitting in his vehicle after conducting a traffic stop on Highway 321 at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Saturday when his car was hit from the back, as stated by the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office.
The authorities revealed that the driver responsible for the collision, 41-year-old Rahcheem Albright, was driving under the influence and had a young boy in his vehicle at the time of the accident. Albright was apprehended and charged with child endangerment, driving under the influence, and driving under suspension. He is currently being held at the Hampton County Detention Center.
Following the crash, the 8-year-old boy was transported by air to Savannah for medical treatment, while Deputy Davis was also flown to Savannah for treatment but was later discharged.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol has initiated an investigation into the accident. In the meantime, Hampton County Sheriff Anthony Russell has requested prayers for the young boy’s safe and swift recovery.
