Lake City, GA (March 22, 2023) – A woman was killed in a workplace accident involving a forklift at a business in Lake City on Wednesday morning, March 22.
According to Clayton County Police Department officials, the accident happened at a business location on Rex Road. Police confirmed that a female worker was digging through some items at a gate in the business when the gate suddenly opened. Before she was able to get out of the way, a worker on a forklift carrying a vehicle came through the gate, striking her and running her over. The woman, who was only identified as an adult female worker, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. Nobody else was hurt in the accident, though police said that the forklift driver was distraught over the event.
The area was blocked off for an extended period of time following the accident.

We would like to offer our warmest condolences to the family and friends of the victim whose life was taken in this accident.
