Marietta, GA (April 20, 2023) – Two people sustained injuries in a two-vehicle collision that took place in Marietta on the morning of Thursday, April 20.
According to Marietta Police Department officials, the accident happened at 5:45 a.m. at the intersection of Fairground Street and Fort Street. Police confirmed that a woman from Lithonia was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Impala and failed to maintain her lane when going around a curve in the road. Her vehicle collided head-on with a GMC Sierra that was headed north. The vehicles both sustained front-end damage in the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The female driver, identified as a 24-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries in the accident. Her passenger, who was not formally identified, was rushed to WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. Police confirmed that the 21-year-old male driver of the Sierra was not hurt.
A large portion of the roadway was blocked for some time after the accident. This led to delays until the scene was cleared.
