Mountain Park, GA – Pedestrian Fatally Struck Near Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield State Park
Mountain Park, GA (June 26, 2023) -The Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P. Unit) is currently investigating the unfortunate death of a pedestrian, as detailed in a public information release by Officer Aaron Wilson.
The incident occurred last night at approximately 9:22 p.m. at the intersection of Powder Springs Road and Pamela Circle. This intersection is located on the outskirts of the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.
According to investigators, a 77-year-old Marietta man was operating a 2000 Nissan Frontier traveling south on Powder Springs Road. For reasons that are currently unknown, the driver came to a stop and exited the vehicle, leaving it in the southbound travel lanes. Meanwhile, the pedestrian began walking south near the western edge of the roadway.
Tragically, a second vehicle driven by a 22-year-old man from Dallas, Georgia collided with the pedestrian. The impact proved fatal, and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained in the accident.
