Rome, GA – Fatal Motorcycle Crash Involving DUI Driver on Garden Lakes Blvd
Rome, GA (March 25, 2023) – On the night of Friday, March 24, a man was killed in a fatal motorcycle accident on a roadway in Rome.
According to Rome Police Department officials, the accident happened on Garden Lakes Boulevard near the area of the SR-1 Loop. Police confirmed that a motorcyclist was traveling in the area when the driver of a passenger vehicle made an improper turn in front of them, causing a collision. The motorcycle was extensively damaged in the collision.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The motorcyclist, who has since been identified as a 41-year-old man from Rome, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, identified as a 37-year-old man from Rome, was arrested for his role in the accident. He has since been charged with homicide by vehicle, DUI, making an improper turn, probation violation, and more.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
